Local man charged: attempted murder
Reported assault with firearm led to an arrest Sunday

WINCHESTER -- A Winchester man was arrested late Friday night and charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm, among other crimes.
When police arrived at the scene, they saw witnesses pointing toward Holiday Drive.
Joshua Clay Coffelt, 20, was located matching the description given by witnesses.
Officers spoke with several witnesses on the scene that said Coffelt had gotten into an altercation with several males on South Braddock Street.
The release stated that Coffelt assaulted one victim, robbed a second victim of an undisclosed amount of money and fired a weapon in the direction of a third victim.
During an investigation by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division a handgun was located during a search of the area and is suspected to be the firearm used in the crime.
Coffelt was transported to Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center after his arrest and is charged with possession with initent to distribute crack cocaine, robbery, attempted robbery, three charges of use of a firearm while committing a felony and attempted murder.
The crack cocaine was discovered during a search of his person.
Myrtle said the preliminary hearing for Coffelt will be held on Oct. 3, but he will more than likely have a bond hearing before that.
