WINCHESTER -- A city man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Winchester Circuit Court to four counts of possession of child pornography.
Andrew Neff "Drew" Houff , 46, formerly of the 400 block of North Loudoun Street, a former reporter for The Winchester Star who has been held without bond since May 2010, had been charged with five counts.
Prosecutors dropped one count after realizing it was not as strong as the others, according to Commonwealth's Attorney Alexander R. Iden.
Houff will serve a total of eight years in a state penitentiary, with two years of that related to charges in Winchester, Iden said. Judge John E. Wetsel, Jr. sentenced Houff to the maximum of five years for each count. He received a total 20 years to serve, with all but two years suspended.
Those two years will be served concurrently with additional prison terms Houff was sentenced to for attempting to take indecent liberties with children and using a communications system to facilitate certain offenses involving children from Stafford County and the city of Staunton.
Houff made no statement Tuesday in pleading guilty to the local charges.
