EDINBURG -- The Shenandoah County Library Foundation has started its annual fund drive with mailings to hundreds of people requesting contributions by the end of the year.
In a news release, fund drive chairman Larry Strawderman says money raised in the past year went toward upgrading and replacing computers, producing children's programs and expanding facilities in Basye and Fort Valley, among other things.
Use of public libraries around the county continues to increase while state and local government funding declines, the release says.
Anyone who does not receive a mailing can pick up a donation packet at any library or contact the main branch at 984-8200 for more information.
