The two incumbents from Shenandoah County serving as directors with the Lord Fairfax Soil and Water Conservation District are facing two challengers on Tuesday.
Joan Comanor, who is chairwoman, and Mary Gessner, both from Woodstock, are facing competition from Ken Cruise, of Toms Brook, and Craig Orndorff, of Maurertown.
In Frederick County, Marcus Adams Jr., of Winchester, and Paul Anderson, of Stephens City, are running unopposed.
Winchester residents James Lawrence Jr. and H.B. Simpson Jr. are seeking the positions in the city. Lawrence is an incumbent.
There are two seats open, but just one candidate on the ballot in Warren County, said general registrar Carol Tobin. Richard Hoover is seeking re-election. The extra seat opens the potential for a write-in candidate, Tobin said.
