NEW MARKET -- A $5 scratch-off ticket turned out to be a $100,000 winner for a town man.
George Snyder won the windfall after buying a Jewel Ruby Red 7's ticket at 7-Eleven, at 285 W. Old Cross Road, New Market, according to a a news release from the Virginia Lottery.
Snyder redeemed the ticket at the lottery's Harrisonburg office on Dec. 7, John Hagerty of the Virginia Lottery said in an email Tuesday. He said there was no way to know when he bought the winner.
A public listing for Snyder wasn't in service Tuesday.

It would be nice if the winnings were tax free. It's not like it cost Virginia Lottery a dime or the State of Virginia for that matter.
