CLEAR BROOK -- Authorities are looking for a suspect or suspects who broke into a Frederick County home Thursday morning and stole a large safe.
A resident of the 400 block of Sir Johns Road in the Clear Brook area left his home just before 7 a.m., according to Capt. John Heflin, of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. The homeowner returned at about 9:30 a.m. and discovered the residence had been burglarized, Heflin said.
Once inside, the suspect or suspects took the victim's large safe, which contained firearms and cash, according to Heflin.
Officers were still on the scene investigating the burglary Thursday morning.
"To be able to transport the safe, I mean it's gotta be a full-size truck, some bigger piece of equipment," Heflin said. "It couldn't be a passenger car."
Authorities alerted law enforcement agencies in other area jurisdictions about the burglary and to look out for a vehicle carrying a large safe.
