MIDDLETOWN -- Lord Fairfax Community College says it had the second-highest enrollment growth of all similar state institutions for the fall 2011 semester.
LFCC enrolled 7,270 students for the fall semester, which represents 3.8 percent increase over the same period in 2010, according to a news release from the college. The Virginia Community College System released the data that show LFCC came in second in enrollment growth behind J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, which serves the Richmond area.
LFCC enrollment has increased more than 30 percent during the past 3 1/2 years and consistently ranks among the top few fastest-growing community colleges during this time period, the release states.
Founded in 1970, LFCC serves students in eight localities at its campuses in Middletown and Fauquier County, as well as in the Luray-Page County Center.
