WOODSTOCK -- Police arrested a man on four charges after he ran a stop sign and then eluded the officer who tried to pull him over on Sunday.
Interim Police Chief R.W. Bowman said that Kevin Montgomery, 20, of Silver Springs, Md., disregarded a stop sign on Reservoir Road near the Shenandoah Square Shopping Center.
Bowman said that Officer Keith Staffa witnessed the incident and attempted to pull the vehicle over.
Montgomery then pulled into the shopping center parking lot, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
About 15 minutes later, he was apprehended without incident on South Main Street right across from the shopping center.
Montgomery was charged with failure to stop for a police officer, driving without a license, driving in a reckless manner and failure to obey a traffic sign.
According to Bowman, he is in custody at Shenandoah County Jail, and being held without bond.
His preliminary hearing is set for March 5.
