WINCHESTER -- Bill Dodson will serve as the new chairman of the Frederick County Democratic Committee.
He was elected to the post Thursday, according to a committee news release.
Branson Miller, a former candidate for the Board of Supervisors, and Shaun Broy, former candidate for the state Senate seat that Sen. Jill Holtzman Vogel was elected to in November, were elected vice chairmen at the meeting, according to the release issued by Broy. Marie Straub was elected to her second full term as treasurer.
Dodson, of Stephens City, has been a member of the committee for the past 10 years. This will be his fourth term as an elected committee officer.
His goals include getting Democrats elected to the Board of Supervisors and growing the organization, partly by reaching out to minority groups, the release states. He also wants to hold local elected officials more accountable for their actions, it says.
The committee officers were elected for two-year terms.
