STRASBURG -- A former jailer was charged with multiple assault and gun crimes following a violent incident in Strasburg over the weekend, according to the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office.

Adam Edward McGuinn, 26, of 49 Savannah Drive, Strasburg, turned himself in on Sunday, Lt. Darcy Dellinger said. He's accused of flashing a gun and beating several women.
Dellinger said deputies were called to McGuinn's home shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday.
McGuinn was gone, but three women, including his 41-year-old girlfriend, were still there, Dellinger said.

He said there had been an argument and McGuinn's girlfriend, along with a 24-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman -- all from Strasburg -- had been assaulted. The women had minor injuries, and were taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released, Dellinger said.

McGuinn has been charged with three counts of brandishing a firearm, three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of malicious wounding, and a single count each of assault and battery, reckless handling of a firearm and abduction, according to Dellinger.

Dellinger said the abduction charge stems from McGuinn not allowing his girlfriend to leave to home.

A woman from the Warren County Sheriff's Office relayed information from Sheriff Daniel McEathron that McGuinn worked as a corrections officer in the Warren County Jail from July 2007 to March 2010.

Dellinger said McGuinn is being held without bail in the Shenandoah County Jail.
