FRONT ROYAL -- The National Park Service is seeking proposals from those interested in operating concessions in Shenandoah National Park in 2013 and beyond.
The concessions include providing visitors with lodging, food and beverages, retail sales and other services, according to a news release issued by park officials.
The contract between the park service and current concession operators expires Dec. 31, and the next one will be for a term of 10 years.
"We are required by law to have an open competition to determine who will manage the concessions facilities," said park Superintendent Martha Bogle.
More information about the concessions and how to submit proposals is available at http://concessions.nps.gov. Proposals must be sent to the National Park Service, Northeast Region, Attn: Chief of Concessions, 200 Chestnut St., 3rd floor, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
The deadline for receiving proposals is 4 p.m. April 16.
