EDINBURG -- The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office is looking for the driver of a pickup that hit one of its cruisers Friday afternoon.
Maj. Scott Proctor said the unnamed deputy was driving west on Senedo Road near Grover Road when a newer-model red Dodge Dakota with an extended cab heading east came into his lane.
"It crossed way over the center line and struck the driver's side rear quarter panel of our cruiser," Proctor said. "The deputy drove out of the way to avoid a head-on collision."
The pickup fled east on Senedo Road toward Woodstock, he said.
"The deputy was not able to pursue the vehicle," Proctor said.
That's because the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria's emergency gas shutoff was activated, Proctor said. The deputy was not hurt, but the car sustained about $2,000 in damage, he said.
Anyone with any information about the incident may call the Sheriff's Office at 459-6100.
