FRONT ROYAL-- Attorney Daryl Funk announced Friday he is running for the town council before a group of about 30 supporters gathered at the old entrance to the Warren County Courthouse.
Funk, who will turn 30 in a few days, said his first priority as a council member "will be to continue working to create an economic environment attractive to business and thereby create more good paying jobs closer to home."
Funk, who has been practicing law for three years, works at the Pond, Athey,
Athey & Pond law firm.
Funk, who was born and raised in Front Royal, stressed his roots and those of his family in the town.
"As a parent, I want my child, Marie, as well as all of the children and grandchildren of this community to enjoy the same bright future that this community provided to me as a child so many years ago," he said.

Message to Robert Nutting, president and CEO of Ogden Newspapers of Virginia:
The NV Daily censor continues to protect certain local politicians and their cronies. It is time the Ogden newspaper group recognizes one of their chosen employees continues to thwart freedom of speech and take the steps necessary to establish the new Northern Virginia Daily as an unbiased source of local news.
NV Daily's new Editor was the former website manager. Perhaps this explains the continuing censorship that protects Clay Athey from fair criticism appearing on the pages of NV Daily?
