WINCHESTER -- Police have arrested the West Virginia woman they say admitted she made up a story about a robbery at knifepoint at a hospital last week.
Authorities charged Patricia A. Weller, 48, of Berkeley Springs, with filing a false report to the Winchester Police Department. Weller confessed to officers that she "made up" the story that a Hispanic male had robbed her of a necklace at knifepoint in, of the police department. Police searched the facility for the suspect with no results.
Weller this week told hospital security she made up the story of the robbery and officers returned to the medical center to interview the woman, Lahman said. Reports did not indicate Weller's motive for making the false robbery claim to explain what happened to her necklace, Lahman said.

She caused police to go on a wild goose chase wasting taxpayer money and their time spent searching for this nonexistent Hispanic attacker. If found guilty, her punishment should include paying this cost.
Is Hispanic the go to race for fictitous attackers instead of blacks these days?
