Police: Suspect sitting in car had gun, drugs

WINCHESTER -- Authorities arrested a West Virginia man Thursday morning after they found him sitting in his car with a gun and illegal drugs, police report.
Officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in a vehicle in the 200 block of South Braddock Street shortly after 9 a.m., according to Sgt. Frank Myrtle of the Winchester Police Department. Upon arrival officers saw illegal drug paraphernalia in the car, Myrtle said.
Officers arrested Joshua Bowyer, 35, of Capon Bridge, W.Va., without incident and charged him with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, Myrtle said.
Officers seized narcotics and a firearm from the vehicle, according to Myrtle.
Police transported Bowyer to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center where a magistrate granted his release on bond. Bowyer was released from the jail shortly thereafter, according to facility records.
The matter remains under investigation and Myrtle said he could not comment on whether police plan to seek additional charges against Bowyer.
Information Bowyer's arrest, including a scheduled appearance in Winchester General District Court, was not available.
