Victim says she was dragged by car, two treated for injuries

WINCHESTER -- Charges are pending against a driver accused of hitting two pedestrians in the city and leaving the scene, according to police.
Officers responded to the 200 block of East Lane for a report of a hit-and-run after two people were struck by a vehicle, according Sgt. Frank Myrtle of the Winchester Police Department.
Emergency rescue workers took a 19-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Myrtle said Friday morning.
Witnesses reported the vehicle drove through a crowd of people gathered in the street, Myrtle said.
Police had received a call of a fight involving several individuals in the vicinity just prior to the hit and run, according to Myrtle.
The 19-year-old reported she was dragged by the vehicle as the driver left the scene, Myrtle said.
Police located the suspect vehicle, a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer and the driver, who Myrtle would identify only as a 23-year-old woman because authorities have not yet charged her with any offenses related to the incident. Authorities had not served the suspect driver with arrest warrants as of Friday evening.
Myrtle said police were not releasing where they located the vehicle and that they will not comment at this time on whether the driver of the suspect vehicle was involved in the earlier fight.
