STRASBURG -- Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative expects to restore power soon to more than 1,400 members affected by an outage early today.
A third-party company not affiliated with the utility likely caused the outage while doing work for a cooperative member, according to SVEC spokesman J. Mike Aulgur. An SVEC crew responded and continued to work on the distribution lines to restore power, Aulgur said shortly after 2:30 p.m., who added he expected electricity restored within minutes.
The outage occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. More than 1,400 SVEC members in and around Strasburg in Shenandoah County lost power. The outage extended south near Toms Brook and north into southwest Frederick County.
