WINCHESTER -- Work on improvements to a section of Amherst Street in the city begins Monday.
Crews will reduce traffic along Amherst Street to one lane from the entrance to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley to Va. 37, city officials warn in a press release issued Wednesday.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of December, the release states.
Improvements include new water and sewer pipes and storm drains; sidewalks, curbs and gutters; realigned intersection at Fox Drive and the entrance to the Frederick County Public Schools administration building and installing a traffic signal; left and right turn lanes; new streetlights and trees.
