Tewalt to run for Town Council
|
FRONT ROYAL --Eugene R. Tewalt, 69, of Front Royal has announced that he is running for a spot on Town Council in the upcoming May election.
Tewalt is retired, after working as the town's Public Works Director for 25 years. In the past he has served both on town council and as Front Royal's mayor from 2008-2009.
"It's time to get back on council," he said.
Tewalt said he hopes to focus on promoting tourism within the town, as well as expanding current businesses, and working with the Economic Development Authority to promote more jobs into the area. He said he also wants to "take a closer look at electrical rates."
"I want us to be more business friendly," Tewalt said, and suggested looking at business issues with the county "as a unit."
