FRONT ROYAL -- A two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Warren County sent three people, including a toddler, to the hospital.
A 2006 Nissan SUV traveling northbound on U.S. 522 collided with a 2012 Toyota Prius at Rockland Road at approximately 5:40 p.m., according to Sgt. F.L. "Les" Tyler, of the Virginia State Police.
The driver of the Nissan, Jessica Williams, 23, of Middletown, who had her 2-year-old daughter in the vehicle, attempted to turn left in front of the oncoming Toyota, Tyler said.
Crews from Middletown and North Warren Volunteer Fire and Rescue companies responded to the crash and took Williams and her daughter to Warren Memorial Hospital, as well as the driver of the Toyota, Pamela Shifflett, 58, of Cockeysville, Md., according to Tyler.
Information on the severity of the patients' injuries was not available.
Deputies with the Warren County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control.
Trooper P.N. Neff charged Williams with failing to yield the right of way to Shifflett, according to Tyler. The trooper also noted, but did not issue a citation, that Williams had her daughter in a child safety seat but improperly placed in the front seat, Tyler said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to Tyler.
