WOODSTOCK -- The Volunteer Farm has put out a call for planting volunteers.
The recent rains have put the Woodstock farm and its sister operation in Culpeper behind schedule when it comes to planting vegetables, according to a news release from the Volunteer Farms.
"At the Woodstock farm we have tons of seed potatoes to plant, while we have similar amounts of potatoes, onions and other crops to plant as quickly as possible on the Culpeper farm," the release says. "We welcome church mission teams, school classes, youth groups, civic organizations, businesses, families and individuals. We need all the help we can muster. Please plan to volunteer at the farm nearest to you within the next week or so."
The Volunteer Farm, which started seven years ago in Woodstock, provides fresh produce to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Capital Area Food Bank.
Volunteers will especially be needed Saturday, according to the release.
