Around 1,200 Civil War reenactors were expected for the 148th anniversary Battle of New Market Reenactment this weekend. The event, which is being held at the New Market Battlefield through 5 p.m. Sunday, included Union and Confederate military tactics and demonstration as well as volunteers portraying Civil War-era civilian life. Here Eric Grant, 16, of Winchester, and Anna Bivens, 6, of Middleway, W.Va., play some tunes near the Bushong farm home at the battlefield site. They are members of the Newmarket Battlefield volunteer corps. Linda Ash/Daily VIEW SLIDESHOW
