Winchester police are looking for a person they say stabbed a man outside a downtown bar early Saturday morning.

Several people leaving Brewbaker's restaurant, 168 N. Loudoun St., encountered and exchanged words with another group outside the business at approximately 1:45 a.m., according to information from Sgt. Timothy Schraff of the Winchester Police Department.

The groups became involved in a physical altercation and during the incident one person pulled a knife and stabbed a 28-year-old man, according to Schraff. Police officers found the alleged victim at Sweet Caroline's, 29 W. Cork St., Schraff states.

The suspect had fled the area on foot, according to Schraff. The release issued by police did not provide a description of the suspect.

The victim suffered lacerations to the back and chest, according to Schraff. The victim was later treated and released from Winchester Medical Center.

The matter remains under investigation.

Police ask that anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage of the altercation to contact Crime Solvers at 665-TIPS.
