Woodstock man accused of molesting teen girl

A Woodstock man has been charged with several sex offenses after his ex-girlfriend allegedly caught him kissing a 14-year-old.

Thomas Edward Bowers Jr., 30, of 23334 Senedo Road, has been charged with indecent liberties with a child, sexual battery and use of a communication device to facilitate certain offenses involving children, according to Woodstock Police Chief Eric Reiley.

According to a search warrant filed in Shenandoah County Circuit Court last month by Woodstock police investigator Derek Good, another officer was called to a Woodstock home about a man seen kissing a teenage girl on March 17.

The affidavit for the search warrant states the child's mother reported that her neighbor said she'd seen Bowers -- who was the neighbor's ex-boyfriend -- kissing the girl in the neighbor's kitchen.

Good interviewed the teenager, who said she'd been having an inappropriate relationship with Bowers since before January 2011, according to the affidavit.

The teenager told Good that Bowers had sent messages asking to see pictures of her breasts, and asking her to meet him places, such as movie theaters, it states.

According to the affidavit, Bowers told the girl in a text that he wanted to be the person to take her virginity.

"Bowers advised the victim not to tell anyone that they talk because he could get in trouble and lose custody of his children," the affidavit states.

The affidavit goes on to state that the alleged victim also told the investigator that Bowers had touched her inappropriately on March 17.

Good found hundreds of text messages to and from Bowers' phone on her phone, according to the affidavit.

Bowers' home was searched on April 10, and three cell phones were seized, according to the search warrant.
