Front Royal man arrested on abduction charges
Front Royal police charged a 44-year-old man with abduction and domestic assault and battery Saturday after fielding a report of a woman being pulled into a van and screaming for help at about 7:45 p.m.
Jeffrey A. Lentz of the 500 block of Cresthaven Court was also charged with drunken driving. Sgt. Jason Ryman said the case arose from a domestic dispute between Lentz and his ex-girlfriend, Barbara Judson.
Ryman said a witness called police after noticing Judson and Lentz struggling in the van at the intersection of Jackson Street and Royal Avenue.
Officer Jennifer Lowery and Detective Crystal Cline spotted the van in a parking lot in the 200 block of North Royal Avenue a few moments later, Ryman said. Lowery ordered Lentz to leave the van as Judson jumped out and fled to safety, according to police reports.
After Lowery arrested Lentz, Cline continued the investigation and filed the abduction and assault and battery charges, Ryman said.
Lentz is being held without bond in the Warren County Jail. He has court dates scheduled for early July in Warren County General District Court and Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
