Now you can get more than a drivers license from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
"We have a partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to offer hunting and fishing licenses at all DMV offices," DMV spokeswoman Melanie Stokes said Monday afternoon.
That includes the mobile DMV 2 Go offices, she added.
Between the partnership going into effect Jan. 19 and the end of May, the DMV has issued 20 hunting licenses and 582 fishing licenses, according to Stokes.
Boat registrations can also be done at the DMV, she said. In that same four-month time period, 1,790 boats were registered, and 229 temporary titles were issued for boats, Stokes said.
"Previously, boat owners had to go to [the] Department of Game to register their boats, and to DMV to register their boat trailers," she said. "Now, it's one-stop shopping. You can conduct both transactions at either agency.
"It [was in the past] a challenge. You go to register your boat; obviously, you have a trailer to carry it on to transport your boat. We did this to make it easier for citizens."
And, because the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries allows for online ordering of hunting and fishing licenses, there's "no point offering it through the DMV website as well," so those transactions must be in-person, Stokes said.

Do they charge an extra $5 for doing that in person ???
another reason to pick a number and stand in line.
