A single-vehicle crash near Strasburg sent a Frederick County man to the hospital Saturday morning.
A 1996 Ford F150 pickup traveling west on U.S. 55 near Middle Road at approximately 9:45 a.m. entered a sharp left turn, ran off the road to the right, according to Sgt. F.L. "Les" Tyler, of the Virginia State Police. The pickup, driven by Alan Pembroke Roby, 48, of Clear Brook, traveled through the parking lot at Gladden's Store, crossed Middle Road and struck a tree, Tyler said.
Rescue workers arrived on the scene. A helicopter crew took Roby to Inova Fairfax hospital for treatment of his injuries, Tyler said. The spokesman sad he did not know the condition of the driver. No one else was in the pickup at the time and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, Tyler said.
Roby was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, according to Tyler. Police believe neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash, Tyler said. Trooper A.C. Galton is investigating to see if a medical issue, mechanical problems or excessive speed factored into the crash, according to Tyler. No charges had been placed as of Saturday and the crash remains under investigation.

I sure hope you send this article to editing before sending it to print. First of all, it's Gradens Store and it was Rt. 55 and Cole Mine, not Middle Road.
