Warren County sheriff's deputies arrested and jailed a 19-year-old man early Thursday after finding him with drugs, alcohol and a runaway girl, according to a press release from Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron
Deputies charged Cody Alan Clater of 15 W. 18th St., Front Royal, with possession of cocaine and four misdemeanors: possession of marijuana, public intoxication, underage possession of alcohol and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the press release.
Deputies had been searching for the girl after fielding a report that she may have been with Clater, McEathron said. They found her at 603 Remount Road along with a van with a white powdery substance inside, according to McEathron.
The deputies then discovered Clater hiding face down under the van, McEathron said. Clater emerged from underneath the van and dropped a straw with white powder residue, McEathron said.
Under questioning from deputies, Clater admitted that the powder was cocaine, McEathron said. After hearing Clater's admission, the deputies called the Front Royal Police Department to help conduct a further search with a trained dog, McEathron said. The dog also gave a positive alert indicating the presence of drugs, according to McEathron.
Deputies also found a small bag of green plant material and an empty vodka bottle in the van, McEathron said.
Clater , who is being held without bail in the Warren County Jail, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, McEathron said.
