Daughter accused of injuring mother in dispute

By Joe Beck -- jbeck@nvdaily.com

A Stafford woman was indicted Monday in Warren County Circuit Court on charges of unlawful wounding and abduction by force or intimidation stemming from a domestic dispute with her mother.

Denise Marie Breeden, 34, attacked her mother, Mae Livinia Crouch, 61, of 274 Granny Smith Road, at Crouch's home on Dec. 6, according to court documents.

A criminal complaint filed by Deputy Brandon Darr of the Warren County Sheriff's Office states that he arrived at the house after receiving a report of Breeden attacking her mother. Darr found Crouch in the living room "holding her chest area" and complaining of difficulty breathing, according to the complaint.

Darr's complaint describes dried blood, a small cut on Crouch's lip and a red swollen area on her left arm among Crouch's observable injuries.

The complaint states that Crouch said Breeden had bitten her left arm. Crouch told Darr the attack began when she asked Breeden for an address "so she could be served at a later date with child custody papers."

Crouch said Breeden threw her to the floor in the kitchen-living room area "and began kicking her in the chest, according to the complaint. The complaint states that Crouch told Darr that she got up to run outside in an effort to obtain a license plate number from Breeden's vehicle because she feared Breeden was about to leave with a child.

Crouch said Breeden pulled her back into the house and continued to attack her, according to the complaint. Breeden threatened to come back and burn the house down if Crouch went to the police, the complaint states.

A county fire and rescue crew transported Crouch to Warren Memorial Hospital where she was treated for injuries, according to the complaint.

The complaint also states that Breeden had left by the time law enforcement officers arrived.
