Cory Andreen, formerly of Stephens City, won the 2012 World Cup Tasting Championship while representing Germany on June 15.
Thirty-five countries participated in the coffee tasting competition held in Vienna, Austria, where contestants demonstrated their skills in a timed contest. Andreen finished with 100 percent accuracy after tasting 24 cups of coffee in the finals.
Andreen graduated from Sherando High School in 2002 and spent a year of high school in Germany as a foreign exchange student with the Youth for Understanding program. He owns two cafes in Berlin, Germany: Café CK and Ck pour Voo.

The Rotary Club of Front Royal has named Irvin H. "Irv" Welch as an honorary member. He has been a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Front Royal since 1979 and served as Club Secretary from 1988-94 and 1999-2002. He also served as a senior director on the Board of Directors in 2006-2007.
Through his years of membership in Rotary, Welch has been honored with the Four Avenues of Service Citation, is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow x3, and is a Sustaining member and a Skelton Fellow. He joins Mary Kay Moose, Warren County High School guidance counselor, and former member Al Ruff as the club's honorary Rotarians.

Appointment
SunTrust Bank, Western Virginia, announced that Rani Wood has been named vice president and SunTrust at Work Business Development Officer for Western Virginia.
The Western Virginia Region is composed of 79 offices in the 26 counties surrounding Roanoke, Blacksburg, Radford, Martinsville, Lexington, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Winchester, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg as well as Charleston, W.Va.
Wood comes to the position with 23 years of banking experience. Prior to joining
SunTrust, she served as a service supervisor for Wells Fargo in Roanoke, Va. Her new office will be located at 10 Franklin Road, Roanoke.
