Public meetings this week

Shenandoah County
The Shenandoah County Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the government center. The commission will hold public hearings on:
- A request for a special-use permit to operate a commercial recreational business at 3648 Riverview Drive, Toms Brook, to include cabin rentals for overnight stay, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, swimming and other activities. The entrance to the properties lies west of of the intersection at Lower River Road and Riverview Drive.
- A request to rezone approximately 1.57 acres of property owned by Patrick and April McMullen, Valley Collision Repair at 23101 Old Valley Pike, from agriculture to business. Applicants propose to continue the existing uses and add retail sales of carports, passenger vehicle trailers and sheds.
- The commission also will review a site plan for New Market Eagles Nest.
New Market
The New Market Town Council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Arthur J. Hildreth Jr. Municipal building. Members plan to go into closed session to discuss an appointment to Town Council. They plan to continue the discussion in open session and then possibly consider making an appointment to fill a vacancy on council.
Warren County
The Warren County Parks and Recreation has scheduled an emergency meeting for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Center, 538 Villa Ave., Front Royal. An agenda or information on the reason for the meeting was not available.
Frederick County
The Frederick County Board of Supervisors Technology Committee meets at 8 a.m. Wednesday
The Local Emergency Planning Committee meets at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the third floor conference room at the Timbrook Public Safety Center, 231 E. Piccadilly St.
