Winchester loses its third top official in a matter of months this week.
Karen Helm submitted her resignation as Old Town development director effective today, according to a release issued Wednesday from Joel Davis, the city's public information officer. City Manager Dale Iman appointed Will Moore, of the Planning Department, to serve as interim director until a replacement is hired, the release states. The city plans to initiate a nationwide search to fill the position, according to the release.
Since taking the position in April 2004 Helm played a role in Old Town's transformation, Davis states. City Manager Dale Iman lauded Helm for her dedication to residents, visitors and downtown merchants, according to the release.
Iman started his job as city manager April 23.
Zoning and Inspections Director Vincent Diem stepped down from his position earlier this spring "for personal reasons," according to a release from the city. The Department of Social Services Director Carla Taylor resigns later this month to take a similar job in Shenandoah County.
