Trex sales up by 20 percent in second quarter

Trex is reporting 20 percent sales gains for the second quarter of fiscal year 2012.
The wood-alternative decking and railing products manufacturer posted net sales of $94.3 million in the three months ending June 30, according to a news release from Trex. That's up from $78.4 million at the same point last year.
Net income quadrupled -- from $2.1 million in second-quarter 2011 to $8.3 million in second-quarter 2012, with diluted shares at 48 cents each, up from 12 cents, according to the release.
For the first six months of this year, Trex reported $190.4 million in net sales, up from $147.4 million in net sales from Jan. 1-June 30, 2011, according to the release. Net income went up from $7.2 million to $20.7 million from the respective timeframes.
