Daily staff report
The Friends of Shenandoah River State Park are looking for volunteers for their fourth annual river clean up 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday along 3.5 miles of river in Raymond R. "Andy" Guest Shenandoah River State Park.
While volunteers can bring their own canoes, 20 two-person canoes will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis by Front Royal Canoe and Downriver Canoe Co., according to a news release from the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Trash will be pulled from the river and along the banks from the Va. 613 (Indian Hollow Road) bridge to the park canoe landing, it states.
The minimum age for clean-up volunteers is 6, with all under 18 being accompanied by an adult, according to the release. All should wear water shoes, and bring snacks or lunch, water and sunscreen.
