Seminar

L. Marquetta Mitchell, financial adviser with Edward Jones, will be hosting a gardening and finance seminar at 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at Cristina's Café in Strasburg.

Mitchell's discussion is titled "Understanding Low Interest Rates" and will focus on developing an appropriate income strategy to prepare for interest rate twists and turns. Additional topics include exploring opportunities in the energy sector, preparing for rising interest rates, addressing income needs for today and tomorrow, and understanding the benefits of systematic investing.

Janet Heishman, owner of Cedar Hill Gardens (Gabalot Gardens), also will be doing a presentation on gardening.

Cristina's Café is located at 219 West King Street in Strasburg. Call 465-2605 before 4 p.m. Sept. 14 to reserve a seat. Refreshments will be served.

Wayne Feignebutz was named the new president of Perry Engineering Co., Inc.

Feignebutz has been associated with Perry for a year through its sister company, Winchester Building Supply Company. He has worked as executive vice president for Luck Stone and has served on the boards of numerous professional organizations, including the Heavy Construction Contractors Association.

Feignebutz replaced Rupert Werner, who has been with the company for 36 years and recently stepped down from the president's position. Werner will continue to work with Perry in an advisory position. Feignebutz began his new position on Sept. 10.

The late Ferman Perry began Perry Engineering Co., Inc. in 1951, and the company has since grown into an award-winning contractor involving excavation, grading and underground utilities serving Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and North Carolina.
