Window World of Washington, D.C. has been named the 2011 Window World Store of the Year.

The award is given to one location each year, and the Washington, D.C. location was chosen out of more than 200 locations nationwide.

Window World of Washington, D.C. was also chosen as the best window dealer in the D.C. area in The Journal's Readers' Choice Awards in 2011.

The Washington, D.C. store is located at 4116 J. Walney Road in Chantilly and is owned by Greg Deathridge and Melinda Hawks. The store opened in 2003 and has completed more than 85,000 installations in the surrounding area and is currently servicing more than 30,000 customers.

The readers of the Waynesboro News Virginian chose DuPont Community Credit Union the Shenandoah Valley's Favorite "Bank" for the ninth year. DCCU was also selected by the readers of the Northern Virginia Daily as their favorite credit union in Shenandoah County.

DCCU also was chosen as the 2nd place Valley Favorite in the Mortgage Company Category, and was chosen 3rd place in the Financial Planning Category by the News Virginian's readers. More than 1,000 votes were cast by the newspaper's readers for the 95 categories, and hundreds of businesses were nominated in the poll. For the Northern Virginia Daily, the contest had more than 1,000 responses and 292 different categories.

DuPont Community Credit Union recently announced that Angie Bandy has been promoted to Vice President of Accounting and Administration.

Mrs. Bandy has 18 years of banking experience, and six years with DCCU. Most recently she held the position of Controller, and has also served as Vice President of Finance. Mrs. Bandy graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. She is also a Certified Internal Auditor.

Bag Hunger

In recognition of Hunger Action Month in September, GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN'S Food Markets are asking customers and associates to join them in hunger relief efforts to benefit regional food banks and local food pantries in the communities they serve.

September 2 through 15 is GIANT and MARTIN'S annual Bag Hunger in-store fall campaign, where customers have an opportunity to donate $1 at the checkout to benefit
their local food bank. Earlier this spring, GIANT/MARTIN'S customers donated a record
$537,672 to regional food banks and hope to double that donation this fall.

For the fall Bag Hunger campaign, GIANT/MARTIN'S will be partnering with a couple of vendors to thank customers for supporting the cause. From September 2 to September
8, donate to the Bag Hunger campaign and receive a coupon booklet from Unilever with
over $10 in savings and delicious recipes from brands such as Wishbone, Ragu, Lipton,
Suave, Hellman's, Skippy and more! When customers donate from September 9 -
September 15, they will receive a coupon booklet from Kraft worth $10.
