Paul Ryan to speak in Harrisonburg on Friday

Daily staff report

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is bringing the campaign trail to the Shenandoah Valley on Friday.

Garren Shipley, communications director with the Republican Party of Virginia, confirmed Wednesday that Ryan will speak at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds at 2 p.m., with gates opening at 12:30 p.m. Shipley urged that those interested in attending arrive early, as space is limited and expected to fill quickly.

Ryan, a favorite among ideological conservatives, was chosen as the vice presidential nominee by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in early August.

Shipley also confirmed that Romney will appear at a rally Thursday in Fairfax. The rally will be held at Van Dyk Park, located at 3720 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the event kicks off at 11:35 a.m.

First lady Michelle Obama will speak Friday at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.

The Fredericksburg event is open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets are available at the Obama campaign office at 1281 Central Park Blvd., Fredericksburg.

thank god hes in our area. lord knows the ppl round here need more red in their blood. cant wait to get that muslim obama bin laden out

And when Sheldon Adleson and the Vegas Mob is running the White House, you will get exactly what you want. Mitt is going to have to pay Adelson back somehow for all his campaign money.

Sheldon Adelson is an American success story. He grew up poor in Boston and made it on his own. His first business was trade show exhibits and expos. His Las Vegas Sands resort is a show place. Gambling is legal in Nevada. There are NO mob connections with any of Adelson's businesses. He is a hard working entrepreneur who creates jobs and wealth for people and their communities. Adelson and his wife, a medical physician, are generous contributors to various charities. Sheldon deserves our admiration.

Wealthy individuals realize that we must have a stable middle class and a growing economy. Otherwise, everyone will sink to the bottom.

Perhaps EDA should contact him and see if he would be interested in financing prospects for our industrial parks. We can not afford to lose anymore companies because of the failure to find financing.

Bigotry and Hatred flow in blue and red sunshine. I've seen plenty of F@#$ Bush bumper stickers. That problem is gonna exist as long as you have people and politicians that use their platforms to manipulate people to get what they want.

Come on now JustWondering, I wasn't trying to be ugly, only lightening the tone. I agree with your assesment of the "Obama bin Laden" comment. I put it right there with the crowd that claims Bush planned 9-11. My point is that until people can have a civil debate without trying to insert jabs to incite a particular reaction we can't move forward. That being the main reason I won't put either political party on my voter id.

      Who are the non-voters?
The survey found that nonvoters are disproportionately young, single, less educated and more likely to be of an ethnic minority than infrequent and frequent voters. 40 percent of nonvoters are under 30 years old, compared to 29 percent of infrequent voters and 14 percent of frequent voters. Infrequent voters are much more likely to be married than nonvoters, with 50 percent of infrequent voters married compared to only 34 percent of nonvoters. 76% of nonvoters have less than a college degree, compared to 61 percent of infrequent voters and 50 percent of frequent voters. Among nonvoters, 54 percent are white or Caucasian compared to 60 percent of infrequent voters and 70 percent of frequent voters.

Ignorance is bliss, ain't it? God NOSE they lov ya fer it.

For his generous political donation of over 100 million dollars to various Republican presidential candidates, what is Adelson buying?

Remember, it was Dick Cheney promising mushroom clouds rising over American cities thanks to the threat from Iraq. Now it is Adelson talking about mushroom clouds over Israeli cities if something is not done about Iran.

    Paul Ryan is a liar.

The Republican Party is not credible.

Mitt Romney has changed his position on numerous issues as political expediency suggests is advantageous… Mitt Romney is a flip-flopper.

Even Bill O’Riley and Rush Limbaugh are criticizing Mitt Romney every day for a multitude of transgressions against America’s best interests.

As for ‘aaspo’, she was convicted in Warren County Court on a charge of brandishing a handgun at her neighbors.

Can anyone just be glad we are not being visited by Biden? LOL

Someone should ask paul ryan if Obama actually did raise taxes..... Romney admitted Obama DID NOT. So for all this time they have been nothing but lying sacks

the republicans and their radical wing of "tea party" have to stop lying and deceiving to "win" . I for one look foward to the debates where Mitt will be shown for who he is. a greedy lying vulture
