Shenandoah County fire, rescue recruits ready to graduate

Shenandoah County's Department of Fire and Rescue graduated eight recruits Friday at the conclusion of more than a month of training.
The new firefighters and EMTs were instructed in skills such as vehicle extrication, pump operations, EMT-Basic optional skills and a firefighter rescue class, according to a news release issued from the department.
"It's about preparing them to provide the best level of service possible for the citizens of and visitors to Shenandoah County," said Bill Streett, the department's training chief.
The graduation was part of the 2012 Celebration Week Ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday in the cafeteria of the Peter Muhlenberg Middle School, 1251 Susan Ave., Woodstock.
The recruits are: Wesley Meadows; Aaron Schutt; Adam Pettit, Dale Orebaugh Jr.; Roger Robinson II; Summer Ruhling; Sarah Gough; and Robert Clark.
