Woman's body found at former Aileen plant

Sheriff's Office: Man reported his friend wasn't breathing

By Sally Voth svoth@nvdaily.com

The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the former Aileen plant Wednesday night.

Deputies were called to 532 Aileen Road, Edinburg, at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Maj. Scott Proctor said.

He referred to a "converted living space" in the former textile factory.

A man reported that his friend, Linda Marie Pitt, 43, formerly of Mt. Jackson, wasn't breathing and was showing no signs of life, Proctor said.

He said investigators went to the scene, as did Shenandoah County Commonwealth's Attorney Amanda Wiseley and members of Woodstock Rescue Squad.

Pitt's body has been transported to the medical examiner's office for autopsy, according to Proctor.

"At this point, the cause of death is unknown until determined by the [medical examiner]," Proctor said. "It does not appear to be foul play. Our investigation is not complete."

Proctor said Sheriff's Office personnel remained at the scene until about 2 a.m. Thursday.

I think that this gentleman was not Lindas friend. I am trying to word this so my comment is not removed again. Please do not refer him as such. Her friends and family know what happened really. I hope her death was not invain. Maybe it will help the gentleman who claims to be her friend get help for his problems. God is the true judge. Lets just say John will have to live with this everyday. Linda is at peace now. I apologize for stating the truth but Linda cannot speak for herself now.
