No one was seriously injured, and about $10,000 worth of damage was incurred during a fire at a Pleasant Valley Road dentist's office, Winchester Fire Chief Scott Cullers said Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to Kool Smiles, 2065 S. Pleasant Valley Road, at about 1:40 p.m., Cullers said.
"The initial report was an explosion and some type of liquid leaking out of the rear of the dentist's office," he said.
When fire crews arrived, they found moderate smoke in a utility room at the rear of Kool Smiles. Some dental equipment had caught fire, but a sprinkler kept it in check, Cullers said. There was no explosion, he said.
While the office does have oxygen and nitrous oxide, they were in a different room from the fire, according to Cullers. He said firefighters cleared the scene at about 4 p.m.
One worker was treated at the scene for difficulty breathing, but didn't need to be transported to the hospital, Cullers said.
A woman who answered Kool Smiles' listed phone number said no one was in the office late Thursday afternoon.
