Daily staff report
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office Friday identified Rheitt Goldizen as the 17-year-old victim in a fatal shooting in the 200 block of Monastery Ridge Road early Thursday.
Frederick County Capt. Allen Sibert confirmed that Goldizen was the victim in what authorities describe as an exchange of gunfire between his father Steve Goldizen and two males outside the door of their house. Sibert said both suspects remain at large and had no further information on the investigation.
Law enforcement officials say that Stephen Goldizen confronted two men, one of them armed with a shotgun, at the front door of his home shortly before midnight Wednesday. Goldizen, armed with a handgun, exchanged gunfire with them and then realized Rheitt Goldizen had been fatally shot.
Authorities have not disclosed who they believe fired the fatal shot. Sibert said investigators are waiting for the results of ballistic tests.
