Officers conclude man shot in chest while trying to dislodge round
Front Royal police are investigating what they describe as an accidental shooting Tuesday afternoon that sent a 26-year-old man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
They identified the victim as Jon Michael Bryzinski. Chief Norman Shiflett said in a news release that officers were sent to 508 Grand Ave. at about 2 p.m. after a 911 call from Bryzinksi's wife reporting that he had been shot.
The officers concluded that Bryzinski had been shot in the chest while he tried to dislodge a round from a shotgun. He was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Inova Hospital in Fairfax, police reported.
Shiflett said police are continuing to investigate.
