Sandy prompts closings

The threat of high winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Sandy prompted schools and some local and regional governments to close or change hours of operation.

Send your closure announcements to info@nvdaily.com and we will add them to the following list of closures:

  • Public schools in Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren counties and Winchester are cancelled Tuesday.

  • All Lord Fairfax Community College campuses will be closed until noon Tuesday.

  • Front Royal Town Council cancelled their work session scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday.

  • Strasburg's administrative offices will be closed today

  • Frederick County government offices closed at 3 p.m. Monday. The county had not issued an update on office closings for Tuesday as of Monday evening.

  • Jerome Neighborhood Watch meeting scheduled for Monday night has been canceled.

  • Woodstock town offices closed Monday and will remain closed Tuesday.
  • The Shenandoah County library in Edinburg closed at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Visit the library website or call the library's voicemail message at 984-8200 for information on Tuesday hours.

  • The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) ordered its stores closed at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
