Suspects sought in fatal shooting of teen
By Joe Beck
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office continued its investigation Thursday into the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy at his home in the 200 block of Monastery Ridge Road Wednesday.
Authorities said they were still trying to determine whether the fatal shot came from a gun fired by the victim's father or by one of two men who were confronting him.
The sheriff's office said in a press release that deputies were sent to the victim's home near Jordan Springs after someone at the residence called emergency dispatch at 12:06 a.m.
Authorities said they met with the owner of the house, who described an altercation with two men, one of them armed with a shotgun, at his front door. One of the men fired, then the homeowner squeezed off a round from his handgun, Capt. Allen Sibert, a
"The doorbell rang," Sibert said. "When he went to answer, two individuals were there, one armed. And of course the homeowner was armed and confronted them and then things went a little south."
"The whole thing was over in five seconds," Sibert said.
Authorities say the homeowner then realized his son had been fatally wounded and immediately called for the Sheriff's Office. Sibert said county paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The suspects fled in a large vehicle, possibly an SUV, and remain at large, authorities said.
The suspects are described in the press release as white males, both in their 20s. One suspect was described as 5-feet 11-inches tall with a beard and mustache. He was wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans and a baseball cap. The second suspect was described as having brown hair, a mustache and beard. He was wearing a toboggan cap, blue jeans and boots.
Sibert said the homeowner "had never seen" either of the two men.
