Woodstock residents held without bond on felony counts
By Sally Voth
Two Woodstock area men accused of molesting a pair of young sisters are being held without bond in the Shenandoah County Jail.
Shenandoah County Sheriff's Maj. Scott Proctor said Antonio Ramirez Mateo, 65, and Andres Rafael Ramirez, 52, both of 285 Stultz Gap Road, are scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Nov. 29.
Both were arrested Oct. 11 and charged with felony sexual battery.
Proctor said the Shenandoah County Department of Social Services contacted the sheriff's office last month after being alerted to the alleged abuse by the school system.
He said Mateo is accused of inappropriately touching one of the two elementary school-age girls, and Ramirez is alleged to have done the same to the other.
"Everything occurred within the last two years," Proctor said.
The alleged victims knew the men, according to Proctor, who said that is true in the vast majority of childhood sexual abuse cases.
