Utilities restoring power across region

The number of people without power in the region continues to fall as utility crews work to restore electricity lost in the wake of superstorm Sandy.
Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative reported 7,032 customers without power in their coverage area as of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. That number includes 3,032 in Frederick County, 2,357 in Shenandoah County, 90 in Warren County, 53 in Winchester, five in Clarke County, and one in Page County.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative reported 10,959 customers without power in its 22-county service area. That number includes 1,511 in Warren County, 137 in Frederick County, 74 in Page County, 32 in Clarke County, eight in Shenandoah County, six in Stephens City, and two each in Front Royal and Middletown.
Dominion indicates 594 of its 13,416 customers in Shenandoah County and 24 of its 251 customers in Clarke County did not have power as of 12:45 p.m.
