Public meetings Nov. 12-16

The following public meetings will be held this week:

Shenandoah County
The Water Resources Advisory Committee meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the board conference room.

Edinburg
Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in town hall.

Mount Jackson
Mayor Joseph A. Williams holds an open-door meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Town Council then meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Strasburg
Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Council plans to hold a public hearing on resolutions in support of the town seeking rural development sewer bonds. Council also may take action on the resolutions. Likewise, council plans to take action on a resolution related to the Virginia Department of Transportation revenue sharing program.

The Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Warren County
The Virginia Department of Transportation holds a public information meeting on the Morgan Ford Road bridge replacement project from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Front Royal Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, 221 N. Commerce Ave., Front Royal.

The Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the county government center. The commission plans to continue its discussion and possibly take action on a request for a conditional-use permit sought by Betty West to build an assisted living facility at the corner of Harmony Hollow and Harmony Orchard roads on agricultural land.
The commission plans to hold public hearings on:

A conditional-use permit for short-term tourist rental at 2108 High Top Road on residential property

A request to amend the county zoning map and rezone 2.56 acres on U.S. 340-522 from commercial to industrial use

A request for a conditional-use permit to store recreational vehicles, boats and cars, excluding inoperable vehicles on industrial property at 5320 Strasburg Road

The commission also plans to hear an update on a request by the Front Royal Limited Partnership to annex 604 acres of county property into town limits.

Following the regular meeting the commission plans to hold a work session for a presentation on the future plans for Sunflower Cottage

The Front Royal Golf Club Advisory Committee meets at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Front Royal Golf Club.

The Advisory Board for the Department of Social Services meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in the agency office at 912 Warren Ave.

The Front Royal Town Council and the county Board of Supervisors hold a liaison meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the caucus room of the government center.

Front Royal
Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Council plans to take action on:

An ordinance to amend the town code pertaining to yard sales

Funding for a water system model and preliminary engineering services for the northern loop study to be conducted by Patton, Harris, Rust & Associates

An amendment to the fiscal 2013 budget to fund purchases and other efforts related to the town's 225th anniversary celebration

A contract of purchase of property and deed of easement for an electrical power substation near Strasburg Road

A deed of easement for maintenance and landscape easement adjacent to Happy Creek Trail from Jack Evans Chevrolet

A resolution to adopt a policy to address delinquent utility bills

A resolution asking VDOT to remove the park-and-ride lot from the South Fork bridge project

A resolution to pursue a boundary adjustment with the county for the proposed annexation area of 604 acres from the Front Royal Limited Partnership

Frederick County
The Parks and Recreation Committee meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission meet for a joint work session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The panels plan to continue their discussion about proposed revisions to the residential performance zoning district and setback requirements for accessory structures in the rural areas district.

The Board of Supervisors meets at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. The board plans to hold public hearings on:

A request by Lord Fairfax Community College to amend the county's Comprehensive Policy Plan to bring land owned by the LFCC Foundation into the Sewer and Water Service area. The proposed amendment, if approved, would create the Middletown/Lord Fairfax SWSA to encompass the college and the adjacent Middletown Elementary School. Middletown and Winchester would continue to provide water and sewer service to the area.

An ordinance to amend the county code by eliminating the waiver opportunity offered in the section on extractive mining

An initiative to seek fiscal 2014 revenue sharing funds to cover the construction of parts of Airport Road and Warrior Drive in the Russell 150 property, and the reconstruction and realignment of Valley Mill Road and its intersection with Va. 7

The board also plans to revisit a rezoning application related to revised transportation enhancement proffers in the Willow Run development
