Crash leads to DUI charge for Berryville man
Daily staff report
Authorities are charging a Berryville man with driving drunk after he crashed an SUV in Warren County Thursday night.
A 1995 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Willam Allen Poston, 24, of Berryville, crashed while traveling north on Howellsville Road toward U.S. 50, according to state police spokesman Sgt. F.L. "Les" Tyler. The crashed occurred around 8 p.m. south of Va. 659, Tyler said Friday. The vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree, according to Tyler.
Rescue workers responded and took Poston to Winchester Medical Center for treatment. Tyler said it was unclear whether Poston wore a seat belt at the time of the crash. Poston's condition was not disclosed. Poston was the only person involved in the single-vehicle crash.
Trooper C.L. Scally charged Poston with driving under the influence. Alcohol played a factor in the crash, according to Tyler.
