Nurse suspended following arrest
Daily Staff Reports
The Virginia Board of Nursing has suspended the license of a nurse from Winchester.
Leigh Ann Sabbagh, a registered nurse, was suspended on Nov. 14, according to online board documents.
The order states she can't "safely practice professional nursing due to substance addiction."
It states Sabbagh was in a residential treatment center in California last year, and several months before that had been arrested for driving under the influence in Winchester.
Blue Ridge Hospice fired her following her arrest, according to the order. In June 2011, Sabbagh was again arrested in Virginia, this time for public intoxication, it states.
Sabbagh entered into a contract with the Health Practitioners' Monitoring Program in September 2011, but missed several screenings, and was arrested this past summer on charges of driving without a license, reckless driving and "inhaling drugs/inducing others," according to the order.
Sabbagh couldn't immediately be reached for comment Monday.
