Winchester police investigate infant's hospitalization
Daily staff report
City police are investigating the circumstances that led to a baby being taken to Winchester Medical Center on Wednesday.
Winchester police community relations/crime prevention specialist Lauren Cummings said officers were dispatched to the hospital shortly after 6 p.m.
"We were notified by the forensic nurse regarding a 3-month-old child who was brought in with unknown medical issues," she said Friday afternoon.
The infant, who is from Winchester, was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Cummings said. She had no further information regarding his condition other than to say he was alive.
Cummings said she couldn't go into specifics regarding what was wrong with the baby, and said no one has been arrested. The case remains under investigation, she said.
